    The Stronger Schools Grant supports public schools and school districts serving grades Pre-K through 12 in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties. Grants are for programming to enrich school experiences for students, support teacher development, and provide opportunities for schools to better achieve their goals.


    Activities Considered For Support:

    • Programs and projects that are innovative and responsive to changes in the school and/or community it serves.
    • Seed” funding for new and creative programs and projects that offer significant opportunities for positive change.
    • Programs and projects that serve low-income or at-risk students.
    • Programs and projects that facilitate cooperation and collaboration among teaching staff and/or advance the school's strategic plan..
    • Programs and projects that identify, enhance, and expand leadership opportunities for students.

    Activities Generally Not Considered For Support:

    • Core operating expenses (e.g., salaries, basic supplies) that should be included in the school budget
    • Endowment, capital and annual fund drives, budget deficits and debt reduction
    • Multi-year grants
    • Funding for items purchased or activities completed prior to grant decisions
    • Sponsorships for fundraising, for-profit events or recurring events directly related to organizational fundraising.

  • Eligibility Details

    Public Schools serving students grades Pre-K-12 located in Chelan, Douglas, or Okanogan counties (including the Methow Valley).


    Note: Each school within a School District is eligible to apply, as well as the School District. Only one application may be submitted per school. One application can include several projects within the school, but will only be awarded up to $5,000 for the total request. School Districts can apply in addition to schools within their district.

    Deadline Details

    Each year, the application opens January 15 and closes by March 15. Due to COVID, the Stronger Schools Grant is currently on hold as the Foundation assesses the best and most effective ways to support public education in the North Central region.

    Award Details

    Up to $5,000 is available per awardee. Awards are disbursed in May to be used for summer programs or the following academic school year.
