The Bureau of Workers' Compensation's (BWC) School Safety and Security Grant (SSSG) Program provides assistance to Ohio employers with ensuring the safety of their staff who instruct children throughout the state.
The program is available to eligible Ohio employers who wish to purchase equipment to substantially improve the safety and security of facilities, and to reduce or eliminate injuries or illnesses associated with providing educational services to children.

The program is available only to Ohio employers that operate licensed preschool through 12th grade educational facilities. This includes (1) County boards of developmental disabilities; (2) Educational service centers; (3) Public school districts (including charter schools); and (4) Private schools (including licensed pre-K schools).
Applications were due by February 29, 2024. A similar deadline is anticipated annually. NOTE: Applications originally due by June 30 but prematurely closed application in February due to an overwhelming interest in applicants.
Eligible employers may receive up to $40,000 for the duration of the program. A 3-to-1 match is required.
