    Summary

    State grants help State and local schools offer programs to develop the academic, vocational and technical skills of students in high schools, community colleges, and regional technical centers. Funds from this program can be used for a broad range of programs, services, and activities designed to improve career–technical education programs and ensure access to students who are members of populations with special needs.     State CTE funding is available to schools offering CTE courses. CTE course funding is determined by high wage/high demand career data, and schools should refer to the Funding Memo and Crosswalk (found on the website linked below) for further details.

    Award Details

    Federal funds are made available to develop more fully the academic, career, and technical skills of secondary and postsecondary students who elect to enroll in CTE programs. In accordance with the statute, states must allocate at least 85 percent of the funds to eligible recipients, which include local education agencies (LEAs), two- and four-year colleges and universities that offer subbaccalaureate CTE programs, area CTE centers, and postsecondary education institutions controlled by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Indian Education (BIE).
