    Summary

The mission of the W.L.S. Spencer Foundation is to fund activities, anywhere in the world, which foster new ideas, disrupt the status quo and encourage creativity in the fields of education, the arts, healthcare and the environment.

    Program Areas

    • K-12 Education: programs that encourage students to stay in school, graduate high school, and pursue a higher education.
    • Arts & Cross-Cultural Education: public programming and scholarly research and catalogues associated with modern and contemporary Asian Art exhibitions.
    • Environmental Education: programs and activities that raise awareness, foster creative ideas, and help to preserve our natural resources.
    • Health Education: programs that improve quality of life and reduce health care costs.

The foundation likes the leverage that arises from seed grants, challenge grants and matching grants. We prefer not to fund endowments, operating expenses or ongoing projects.
