    Summary

The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) was established in 1996 as part of the Bank's 150th Anniversary celebrations. The purpose of the Foundation is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and social well-being of the people and institutions.

Since the Foundation began, close to $20 million in grants have been committed to 501(c)(3) organizations in their local communities. In 2019, the Foundation awarded in excess of $1.9 million in grants.

    Additional Information

The BCSCF was established for the purpose of being a partner for local organizations by providing financial support and in turn creating a a more equitable place to live and work and improve the quality of life for everyone in our communities. To achieve these goals we have established funding preferences that include:

    • Funding projects or purposes that focus on one or more of the following areas:
      • Education & Financial Literacy- The Foundation funds various types of educational support including early learning programs and initiatives, all levels of academic learning, workforce development, job training, and more.
      • Economic Development- Supports activities that work to improve the economic well-being of the communities it supports. Particularly those focusing on community development, diversification, creating and retaining jobs and building the local tax base.
      • Housing (particularly targeted to low-moderate income)- Funds a wide variety of housing initiatives including organizations and programs that provide credit counseling, homebuyer education, temporary and affordable housing solutions.
      • Critical Needs/Sustainability- This a new area of funding to address the effects of COVID-19 and social injustices that negatively impacted many community organizations.
    • Funding a variety of purposes for each organization including seed funding and special projects as opposed to contributing to an organization's annual operating budget
    • Funding projects or purposes that benefit many as opposed to a few

    No support for religious organizations.
