The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), along with the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy has created a fund for the purpose of promoting innovation in the teaching of personal financial literacy (PFL) in the classroom. Funds are being awarded through a competitive grant program to schools, partnering with communities, to support the implementation of the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for Personal Financial Literacy in order to improve financial literacy among youth. Funds provide an opportunity to help teachers bring new and creative programs and events into the classrooms or implement the adoption of a PFL graduation requirement in Wisconsin schools as a means to enhance the teaching and learning of financial literacy.
Priority will be given to projects that:
Eligible applicants are all educators, principals, and administrators in Wisconsin's public and private K-12 school districts.
Applications were to be submitted by May 27, 2020. This program administers a new grant round every two years.
The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) made available $150,000 for awards of up to $10,000 per school. Applicants may submit proposals for each school level – elementary, middle, and high schools.
Funding must be expended by June 30, 2021.
