Evidence for Action (E4A) is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) which funds research that expands the evidence base needed to build a Culture of Health. The mission of the program is to support rigorously designed quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research that yields convincing findings regarding the population health, well-being, and equity impacts of specific policies, programs and partnerships. RWJF is especially interested in research examining the health impacts of programmatic or policy interventions that address factors outside the domain of health care services or public health practice.
Research topics that fit well with the overall goals of E4A include:
- Improving health outcomes and reduce inequities;
- Tailoring or targeting programmatic or policy interventions;
- Making health a shared value;
- Fostering cross-sector collaboration;
- Creating healthier, more equitable communities;
- Strengthening integration of health services and systems;
- Incorporating well-being into population health; and
- Developing and validate key measures.
Grant funds may be used for project staff salaries, consultant fees, data collection and analysis, dataset procurement, meetings, supplies, project-related travel, and other direct expenses, including a limited amount of equipment deemed essential to the project.
