    Summary

    East Tennessee Foundation's (ETF) field-of-interest and affiliate funds support a competitive grantmaking process in broad charitable areas including arts and culture, community development, youth-at-risk or a particular East Tennessee county or region (affiliate funds) within the Foundation's 25-county service area.


    The ETF Foundation has made available the following grant programs:

    • Affordable Housing Trust Fund: To support the production, preservation and rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing, or enhancing the rental opportunities for low-income households.
    • Arts Fund for East Tennessee: Grants to support excellence in the arts, expand access to the arts, and connect artists with each other and with East Tennessee communities
    • Boyd Youth Education Fund: Grants to support youth education, with a primary focus on Boy Scouts and Junior Achievement
    • Butterfly Fund: Grants to support research, treatment and services dedicated to the defeat of childhood cancers
    • CNS Y-12 Community Investment Fund, Corporate Donor Advised Fund: Grants to focus on historic & cultural preservation, and mental health & substance abuse issues.
    • Economic Development Fund of East Tennessee: Grants to support regional economic development projects
    • Harry W. & Carolyn W. Galbraith Memorial Fund: Grants to support animal care organizations with their spaying and neutering programs
    • Dr. J.G. Hawkins Memorial Fund: Grants to support medically-related transportation and traveling clinical services for under-served rural residents of Greene County
    • Jefferson Health Care Foundation: Grants to improve healthcare and well-being for Jefferson County residents
    • KiMe Fund: Grants to benefit medical research that supports, or has the potential to support or contribute to finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease
    • Leadership Education Fund: Grants to support public education projects
    • Literacy Endowment Fund: Grants to support literacy projects
    • Mount Rest Fund: Grants to significantly contribute to the welfare of the women and children of Knoxville and Knox County
    • The Pat Summitt Foundation Fund: Grants related to the direct and immediate care of Alzheimer's patients and/or caregiver support.
    • Respiratory Disease Fund: Grants related to the diagnosis, research, treatment, education, prevention and cure of respiratory diseases in Knox County
    • Margaret M. & Harley H. Wachs Youth Leadership Fund: Grants to provide young people in Johnson County with travel and leadership opportunities
    • Wildlife Preservation Fund: Grants to protect and conserve the natural beauty of our community
    • Youth Endowment: Grants to help at-risk youth gain access to more opportunities in life and acquire knowledge and skills which improve their chances to be successful
    • Blount Community Fund: Grants to support opportunities to advance and improve the quality of life of Blount County residents
    • Campbell Enhancement Fund: Grants to support programs and projects that build community goodwill, seek to solve community challenges and produce results for the benefit of the community
    • Elizabethton/Carter County Community Foundation: Grants to create opportunities for others to give and join in supporting the well-being of Carter County and its citizens
    • Fund for Greene County: Grants to support opportunities to advance and improve the quality of life of residents of Greene County
    • Johnson County Community Foundation: Grants to support community goodwill, seek to solve community challenges, and produce results that improve the quality of life for all citizens of Johnson County
    • Kingsport Community Foundation: Grants to support projects that enrich lives and strengthen the Greater Kingsport Community
    • Loudon County Community Foundation: Grants to support projects that improve the quality of life of the residents of Loudon County
    • McMinn Community Fund: Grants to support opportunities to advance and improve the quality of life of the residents of McMinn County
    • John D. Grubb & Louise G. Sumner Fund for Monroe County Grants to encourage creative use of area resources and contribute to the quality of life of Monroe county residents
    • Norris Area Community Foundation Grants to benefit the citizens of Norris and surrounding unincorporated communities
    • Union County Community Foundation Grants to support opportunities to advance and improve the quality of life of the residents of Union County
    • Washington County Community Foundation: Collaboration grants to support two or more organizations working together on projects that will benefit Washington County and its people

    Since 1986, East Tennessee Foundation has awarded over $308 million in grants through its competitive grantmaking process.

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible organizations must have and be able to provide documentation to verify the following:

    • Confirmation that the organization is a 501(c)(3) public charity, unit of government , or educational institution
      • New or emerging groups that do not have nonprofit status may apply if they have an established nonprofit organization as a fiscal sponsor
    • Employee Identification Number (EIN)
    • Legal name of organization, address, and contact information (phone, fax, email address)
    • Primary contact person and title
    • List of staff administering the project
    • Most recent financial statements and/or most recent audit and/or IRS Form 990
    • Current year operating budget
    • List of current board of directors or equivalent governing body
    • Confirmation that the organization operates and is organized so as to not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, familial status, sexual orientation, age, disability, covered veteran status, or other characteristics as identified in the Foundation's Non-Discrimination Policy Statement.

    The Foundation only makes grants from its competitive grantmaking programs in the following 25 counties in East Tennessee: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Knox, Loudon, McMinn, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, and Washington.
