    Summary

The Thomas Scattergood Foundation aims to challenge and change how behavioral healthcare is viewed, organized and practiced. In addition to programs that align with the Foundation's goals, the Foundation supports requests that meet one or more of the following priorities:
    • Viability: The Foundation seeks activities that reasonably promise to become economically independent and viable, or are otherwise replicable.
    • Collaboration: The Foundation expects that recipients will invest their own resources, leverage additional third party funds, and/or partner with other organizations in the implementation of the grant.
    • Innovation: The Foundation seeks activities that are innovative and additive to the field of behavioral health.
    • Leadership: The Foundation believes that development of the behavioral health field requires leadership and seeks requests that nurture and develop individual or institutional leadership, promote reasoned advocacy and de-stigmatization in the field.
    • Impact: The Foundation expects activities to have measurable performance outcomes that improve health care, impact public policies including systemic reform, or promote knowledge and understanding.
    • Integration: The Foundation seeks grants that promote integration of behavioral health services into the community and the larger healthcare delivery system in the belief that this will improve outcomes of both physical and behavioral health.
    • Workforce Development: The Foundation seeks grants that promote workforce development throughout the system including policy development and administration, and direct service delivery.
    • Cultural Competence: The Foundation seeks opportunities to develop the understanding of and capacity for cultural competence including building service systems that recognize, incorporate, practice, and value cultural diversity.
